A1 @ SW1

Southbank, Brisbane, QLD, Australia

data, awards, description

The Inner West Health Centre provides the local community with a welcoming, versatile space for its health and aged care needs.

Diversity, flexibility This unique project is Australia’s largest purpose-built community health centre and aged care facility on one site. The design caters to the many different requirements of the local community, with services including maternal and children’s health, a dental clinic and 67-bed aged care centre, as well as a 200-space underground car park.

Thoughtful design The configuration of one-, two- and three-storey buildings provides areas for public and private use and enables delivery of a large number of services in a peaceful and pleasant environment.

Relaxing gardens Spaces between the buildings range from courtyards for dementia patients and play areas for children, to assessment areas for the community health centre and public spaces such as a memorial garden and central courtyard. Attractive landscaping adds to the tranquil environment of the outside areas and creates a positive experience for visitors and residents.
