Harvey goes for mixed use in North Ryde
Financial Review, Issue: 16 April 2013
Retail mogul Gerry Harvey has launched Harvey Norman into the apartment and office development business with a $150 million project in Macquarie Park in Sydney’s northern suburbs.
Standing in the basket of a crane above site – currently a Domayne/Harvey Norman store – Mr Harvey quipped that he would also be selling furniture to the buyers of the 229 apartments planned as part of the site’s overhaul.
The group’s first project – a 1.97 ha site in Macquarie Park – is designed to complement a broader revamp of North Ryde, with the area around the station to accommodate more than 2000 apartments. Harvey Norman’s plan includes a 12-storey office tower above the existing Domayne, a six storey commercial building, and a tower with 10 storeys of hotel space and 17 storeys of apartments.
