Ambitious plan to breathe new life into city

Lighting up pieces of mirror on the Line of Lode to create a giant disco ball effect was one idea to come out of a $100,000 plan to turn the city into a world tourism destination.

City Council contracted Sydney design company Allen Jack+Cottier (AJ + C) to create the plan for the “Broken Hill Living Museum + Perfect Light Project.” The project was knocked back in the latest round of NSW Resources for Regions funding because it would not directly generate income for the city.

But Council was confident funding could be had in the near future, after having already invested $100,000 to ensure the plan was “shovel ready.”
