Winner of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects Presidents Award (1999), Moore Park Gardens demonstrates the myriad benefits of passive design.
Leading the way Located on the 2.6-hectare former Reschs Brewery site in Sydney’s East Redfern, Moore Park Gardens is one of Australia’s leading medium-density residential developments. AJ+C were the masterplanners, architects and interior designers for this project, creating an integrated new neighbourhood, which balances community needs with quality passive design.
A community both liveable and sustainable The development showcases sophisticated urban design principles and extensive use of Ecologically Sustainable Design (ESD). Its two towers utilise a crossover design, giving 90 per cent of the apartments cross-ventilation and a northern-orientated living area. Featuring a series of publicly accessible open spaces, landscaped courtyards and a central linking road, Moore Park Gardens integrates seamlessly with its surrounds. The high- and low-rise apartment buildings house a diverse mix of 560 apartments and a range of community facilities.
