Integrated with South Sydney Council’s precinct masterplan, the Motto apartment complex makes a significant contribution to the area’s urban renewal.

Public domain improvements The project was integrated with South Sydney Council’s precinct masterplan, which enabled extensive improvements to Erskineville and its surrounds. Coordinated with adjacent developments, street widening and realignment and planting, paving, lighting, power and stormwater improvements created a consistent streetscape.

Forward-thinking design The residential architecture and urban design principles underpinning Motto lend it a high level of amenity. Apartments benefit from solar access and cross-ventilation, while passive surveillance help residents feel secure. Strong connectivity between living spaces adds to the communal atmosphere. In 2006, AJ+C’s Motto design won an Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) urban renewal award.
