New Project Release: Distinctive “Polaris” apartments in North Sydney launched
20.05.15
Located on the corner of Pacific Highway and Berry Street, North Sydney, the 218-apartment building comprises 1 – 3 bedroom apartments and 3 levels of commercial space. Its unique crystalline form was driven by the technical requirements of the site, and in particular, the need to provide maximum sunlight into this and surrounding buildings. “The form of the building was created by allowing the sun’s rays to define its profile. By reverse engineering the hours of required sunlight to neighbouring properties we defined a building envelope. The design of the final crystalline form fitting within the envelope to create no overshadowing and produce the building’s unique character,” said Peter Ireland.
The signature tower on the corner of the Pacific Highway and Berry Street carries through the crystalline character with a metaliic rain screen sheath and a folded metal canopy at street level. The canopy provides shelter and defines the residential and commercial entries.
