data, awards, description –
Allen Jack+Cottier will play two integral roles in a new $800 million mixed-use development set to transform the southern end of Parramatta’s CBD.
Leading design AJ+C was selected as coordinating architect and architect in a major design excellence competition held by The Heartland Group. AJ+C will design the largest of three sites, located on Church Street at the edge of Parramatta’s central business district, west of Sydney.
Project scope The project includes three 30-40 storey residential towers with retail/commercial uses on the lower levels. There will also be two 10-storey commercial buildings fronting Church Street, around 3,000 m2 of public open space, a 2000 m2 public park, basement supermarket and extensive car parking.
A new civic benchmark The Parramatta South Gateway Precinct begins the planned revitalisation of the ‘Auto Alley’ end of Church Street.
The new plaza, park and public domain will introduce natural elements into the urban environment.
Water features and tree planting will create a soothing, shady atmosphere.
