Polaris

This North Sydney building’s unique crystalline design ensures light-filled sophistication and harmonious living.

Inner-city elegance Polaris Apartments sits on Berry Street, enjoying a much sought-after North Sydney address. Its 218 apartments feature one to three bedrooms each, with three levels allocated for commercial space.

Maximising sunlight Polaris’s unique character is a product of innovation. Its unique crystalline form was driven by necessity – specifically the need to provide each apartment with maximum sunlight. Filling metropolitan buildings with natural light is increasingly difficult as city density increases. To counter this, Allen Jack+Cottier allowed the sun’s rays to define Polaris’s profile. A building envelope was defined by reverse engineering the hours of required sunlight to neighbouring properties. The final crystalline form then fit within the envelope to avoid overshadowing the neighbours.

Crystalline character Polaris’s signature tower continues the crystalline theme with a metallic rain screen sheath and folded metal canopy. The canopy shelters and defines the residential and commercial entries.
