Press Release: STUDIO Sydney Tower – A Room with a View

Floating 300 metres above Sydney’s CBD, by any measure the view from the Trippas White Group operated STUDIO event space and bar on top of Sydney Tower is a knockout. The highest event space in the Southern Hemisphere, STUDIO opened last week. It overlooks Sydney harbour to the east, north and south and to the mountains to the west. On some days, you can even sit high above the clouds.

Allen Jack+Cottier’s brief from Trippas White Group was to redesign the 340m2 circular room for contemporary use, providing maximum flexibility for everything from small weddings to breakfast briefings, conferences, sit down dinners, cocktail and dance parties to product launches.

‘Our client wanted the new space to read like a New York loft or high end apartment, rather than a typical ‘event’ centre,’ says Kerry Fyfe, who leads Allen Jack+Cottier’s interior architecture team. ‘Guests should feel like they are in someone’s luxe private home, albeit one in an unusually spectacular location.’ ‘This is ultimately a commercial venue, so flexibility and functionality around the clock are the keys.’ she added. ‘Everything had to be high quality, very flexible, with the best and most durable fabrics, furniture and fittings.’

STUDIO is the antithesis of a conventional venue fitout. Light, airy, warm and tactile, with subtle lighting, smaller more intimate conversation spaces and low tables and seating. The contemporary, restrained design with its considered lighting and surfaces succeeds in allowing the breathtaking views to ‘pop’, day and night. Materials, furniture, fixtures and fittings have all been selected for their residential rather than corporate feel. Window seating around the perimeter allows people to sit high above the city – simply relaxing and taking in the best views of our breathtakingly beautiful city.
