Sustainability
In a world of climate crisis and unprecedented biodiversity loss, if you aren’t part of the solution, then you’re actively part of the problem.
Globally, buildings and construction account for nearly 40 percent of energy-related carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and are the number one threat – directly or indirectly – to natural habitats. Every project is therefore an opportunity to help mitigate climate impacts through the design decisions we make. As a studio, we have identified nine key sustainability principles that we actively incorporate into all our projects.
Carbon Neutral
AJC became a self-certified Carbon Neutral Business in 2021, with formal certification planned within three years. As a signatory to Architects Declare, we join the campaign to have Australian architects commit to carbon neutrality by 2030. Using the online Carbon Neutral calculator to quantify and offset our carbon emissions, our latest year audit can be viewed here.
