Acacia Affordable Apartments at Green Square Breaks Ground

A couple of weeks ago, we celebrated the groundbreaking of Acacia Apartments, a new affordable housing development for City West Housing in the heart of Green Square.
With 264 new affordable rental apartments, the development marks a major step forward in addressing Sydney’s critical housing need.
AJC’s design was selected through a City of Sydney Design Excellence Competition. A multi-core design strategy breaks down the building massing to create a series of more intimate residential ‘neighbourhoods’, while bringing natural light and ventilation into spaces such as kitchens and bathrooms.
Landscape forms an important part of the project’s sustainability strategy, with endemic planting, roof gardens and densely planted terraces. Generous communal shared spaces will provide places for residents to come together, while material and landscape selections reference the area’s pre-Colonial wetland and sand dune Country.
We look forward to seeing Acacia Apartments take shape and deliver much-needed affordable homes for the Green Square community.
