On behalf of Brian and John, Michael Heenan welcomed the new co-owners at a practice get-together on 2 August, saying: “We are very proud to have Dua and Duncan step into these important roles. It marks the continuing evolution of this proud practice, and a milestone in our history as we celebrate 70 years. The move broadens our leadership expertise and scope, and  acknowledges the enormous contributions of these two outstanding individuals.”

Dua Green has reinforced AJC’s position as one of Sydney’s premier architectural firms for school design.  In the rapidly digitising landscape of education, developing architectural responses that distinguish different school environments requires a deep dive into an individual school’s pedagogy, consulting with staff, students and the wider school community to understand their core principles and aspirations.

Several major projects completed by Dua and her team are currently shortlisted for local and international architecture or learning environment awards, including: Abbotsleigh Senior School Centre for Science & Art, Abbotsleigh Junior School Library & Innovation Centre and the Greenhalgh Centre for Music & Drama, Meriden School.

“Understanding the way discovery and play contribute to learning at different ages is critical to a good outcome, both in terms of design and education. It’s always a dialogue. We’ve completed some truly inspiring projects recently that are already delivering exceptional outcomes for these schools,” said new Director, Dua Green. “I am looking forward to continuing this work, and helping guide AJC’s future. I would also like to thank the owners Michael, Brian and John for their support over many years.”

Duncan Corrigall has bolstered AJC’s role as a leading provider of master planning, project advocacy and rezoning services across New South Wales. As successive state governments have focused on unlocking housing and its facilitating infrastructure through the planning system, Duncan has represented both landowners and government agencies in their efforts to strategically rezone hundreds of hectares across the State.

Outside of rezoning services, Duncan also leads our urban design and architectural support services for early project proposals and business cases – contributing to $400m of successful State and Federal funding applications in 2022-23 alone – as well as sector-specific master plans such as education campuses (at all levels), retirement living villages, and retail developments.

“It feels fantastic to join the ownership team, and I’m excited for what that represents: urban design becoming one of the foundational pillars of AJC. The Urban team at AJC is world-class, and we have some city changing projects ahead of us,” said new Director, Duncan Corrigall.

In addition to leading the Education and Urban Design teams respectively, Dua and Duncan will be instrumental in shaping AJC’s future direction and ensuring we continue delivering exceptional service to our clients and projects of excellence across Sydney.
