This suburban retail centre, featuring a supermarket and specialty stores, showcases understated, multipurpose design.
Thoughtfully laid out Designed to serve the growing West Port Macquarie region, Lake Innes Village differs from traditional shopping centres. Its layout, featuring low-scale stores that wrap the supermarket, both mitigates visual bulk and activates street frontages. Public activity is concentrated into a landscaped central plaza, with native trees that assist in stormwater control and detention. Shopper access is via a high colonnade that provides shelter but is open to the plaza and neighbourhood.
Internally lit A multi-use, double-height atrium simultaneously leads shoppers into the supermarket and reduces air-conditioning demands. At night, this space is lit, lantern-like, from within, becoming a distinctive landmark.
Avoiding carpark dominance Carpark placement is a key consideration for Lake Innes Village. Located at its northern end and also on surrounding streets, parking does not dominate the forecourt, and remains subordinate to the pedestrian plaza.
