One Melrose, Melrose Park

Melrose Park, Sydney, NSW, Australia

data, awards, description

Conceived as an oasis on the banks of the Parramatta River, One Melrose includes 277 homes across an enclave of three sinuously curved buildings: The Residences, Pulse and Pavilion.

The buildings are architecturally considered from every angle to harmonise with place, and maximise natural light and airflow. Apartments combine intelligent floor plans, generous storage and space for families or busy couples.

Building design and interior layouts all focus on natural light, space, connection to outdoors and quality materials and construction. Each apartment connects to flexible sunrooms for easy indoor/outdoor living. Residents also have access to a luxuriously landscaped private rooftop garden. It is the first stage of residential apartments at Melrose Park, a 30 hectares redevelopment of industrial land that has been master planned by AJ+C to be an exemplar mixed-use community, set among landscaped parklands.

Melrose Park will be Parramatta’s first Smart City. That means more than just monitoring energy use in the home. Across the 30-hectare site, sensors are monitoring environmental conditions during construction and the data is fed back into the design loop, to help optimise building and landscape outcomes, as well as living conditions.
