NAWIC Tours Galuwa Recreation Centre

After more than 15 years of planning, consultation, design and construction, Galuwa represents a major milestone for sport, recreation and community life on Sydney’s Lower North Shore.

Last week, we welcomed NAWIC NSW to Galuwa Recreation Centre for a tour of Lane Cove’s recently completed sport and community hub.

Set within a bushland landscape, the centre fosters a strong connection to nature and is organised around a central internal promenade connecting eight indoor and outdoor courts with recreation and community spaces.

The tour offered an opportunity to explore the completed centre and hear more about its design and delivery from the project team.

We've tried to capture the spectacular nature of this site, to find where the buildings belongs and gently settle it into the landscape. In a way the building has become a sensory backdrop, allowing all the light and shadows, scents and sounds of the bushland to permeate.
