James Cunnew
Studio Lead
What’s rewarding about our work is the chance to create something uniquely responsive to client and site, or to bring unloved spaces back to life.
James has more than two decades’ experience working in Australia, the UK and the US, predominantly in the education, health, transport, community and civic sectors. As a Studio Lead in education, James collaborates closely with clients, stakeholders and design teams through all project stages from concept to delivery, producing architecture that is functional, sustainable and well resolved. Design that does more with less.
Pivotal projects James has worked on include the London Bridge Station Masterplan and award-winning university projects in both Sydney and New York, all of which involved the reuse and adaptation of significant and underutilised structures. He brings this experience to leadership of the AJC design team on a key education project that repurposes a commercial building of provenance into a state-of-the-art vertical school.
