At Trinity Grammar School in Lewisham, The Eileen O’Connor Centre provides a light-filled, dynamic environment for discovery and learning.
An inspiring space for contemporary education
The Eileen O’Connor Centre project regenerates an existing school building into an adaptable, multi-purpose teaching facility fit for twenty-first century education. Featuring the striking suspended Discovery Centre, the building combines a mix of open plan, technology-enabled classrooms with exhibition, performance and administration spaces. Fresh and inviting, these spaces create an energising environment for students and teachers.
Airy, light, natural A glazed roof extension and louvered screen facade ensure that learning is carried out in a light-filled environment with natural ventilation and a seamless relationship with the existing, tree-filled courtyard.
Adapted to the site
High-tech glazing minimises aircraft noise and efficiently regulates temperature through the seasons, while the form of the iconic Discovery Centre has been carefully considered in relation to its neighbour, the heritage-listed St Thomas’s Catholic Church.
