AJC Shortlisted for World Architecture Festival 2025
July 2025
AJC is honoured to be shortlisted for the World Architecture Festival (WAF) 2025 in the Completed Buildings: Creative Re-use category for Reddam House North Shore.
Located in the former Simsmetal House in North Sydney, this project reimagines a 1970s Harry Seidler-designed commercial building into a contemporary, connected school campus for 1,500 students from primary through to secondary years.
Led by AJC’s Dua Green, the transformation retains the original building’s distinctive stepped form, repurposing generous terraces and internal volumes for outdoor learning and gathering spaces. Interventions such as a new auditorium, raised ceiling heights, and enhanced daylight access have turned this once ‘B-grade’ office tower into a dynamic, future-ready educational environment.
The design preserves the building’s architectural heritage while supporting the evolving needs of modern learning.
AJC congratulates its collaborators Inspired Education and Built, and thanks the World Architecture Festival for recognising the potential of creative reuse in education architecture.
