Dua brings to AJ+C an aesthetic sensibility refined by experience in a number of international and local projects. These encompass a spa in Brighton, UK, a hotel in St Lucia, and the adaptive reuse of an abandoned mill in Buenos Aires.
Dua is a discerning project leader as well as an involved team member. Her managerial skills combined with her eye for design often result in successful bid preparations and competition entries.
Dua has maintained an active participation in the design community outside of AJ+C tutoring at the University of Sydney.
The importance of the unique building type of student housing, and its significance in the community, is becoming very apparent. As a result over the last three years Dua has worked with Principal Michael Heenan to head up a team focused on developing this discipline within AJ+C.
The recent completion of the new student village at Edith Cowan University in Perth has proven AJ+C’s ability to coalesce the complex pragmatics of student housing with the need for a vibrant and active environment.
The project contributes 350 beds to existing accommodation at the university. “Student housing has evolved,” Dua says. “The creation of a vibrant student community is at the heart of our design.”
