AJC is pleased to share the latest construction update on Lachlan’s Line (The Macquarie Collection)

Work on the apartment slabs is progressing well as the structure continues to rise. In the basement, formwork removal is currently underway, and structural work on the apartments has reached Level 2, advancing steadily. A jump form system is now in place, playing a key role in maintaining momentum and efficiency on the upper levels. AJC acknowledges the Landmark construction team for their ongoing commitment to safety, quality, and progress.

Located at the northern end of the Lachlan’s Line Precinct and within 600 metres of North Ryde Metro Station, the site is bounded by the M2 Motorway to the east, Halifax Street Park to the west, and a light industrial area that is anticipated to transition into a mixed-use commercial precinct.

In alignment with the Lachlan’s Line Urban Design Guidelines, the development features a podium that defines the street edge, with three residential towers articulated in a vertical rhythm along the motorway. These forms align with the site’s south and west boundaries. A central courtyard will function as an ‘urban backyard’, offering external spaces for passive and active recreation that foster a strong sense of community.

The architectural scheme presents a family of buildings—related in materiality yet varied in form—creating a cohesive but dynamic identity. Façade treatments respond to orientation through the use of blades, balconies and sun-shading devices, offering shifting patterns of light and texture throughout the day. Subtle variations in colour further animate the buildings’ expression as natural light changes.

Landscape design is integral to the project, recognising the traditional custodians, the Wallamatta people of the Dharug Nation. The design draws inspiration from the site’s natural heritage—once characterised by sandstone formations and the iconic angophora tree, revered in cultural rituals. The built form reflects this narrative: a solid masonry podium grounds the development, while the tower grid twists like angophora boughs, and the façades peel away in bark-like blades, framing views to the north.

Understanding the importance of access to nature, AJC has integrated garden spaces throughout the development. From the landscaped entry lobby and ground plane, greenery continues through lift lobbies on every level, up to skygardens and a communal rooftop garden—offering meaningful engagement with nature at every level of the building.
